Co-operation with municipalities

One of the declared goals of the company is to co-operate with the municipalities.

For the last two years Rekopol Recovery Organisation S.A. co-operates with Polish municipalities in the range of selective collection. The system created in common by Rekopol and local authorities comprises 165 municipalities from the area of Poland (including 4 inter-municipality associations). Through the means of financial support as well as educational activities we help both municipal and rural municipalities to realize the statutory assignment of selective waste collection, which has been put on the authorities by the act from 13 September 1996 o utrzymaniu czystości i porządku w gminach- about preservation of cleanness and tidiness in municipalities.

Rekopol support in building the selective collection system in municipalities has the form of an allowance for each tonne of specific recyclable packaging material that is collected and forwarded for recycling. In 2003 Rekopol introduced the separate collection of beverage cartons(BC). In order to ensure collection, sorting and recycling of this material, Rekopol initiated a BC pilot project. Another precious material which collection we try to popularize through education is glass and its separate collection on colored and white glass.
